To some, it may seem strange that I am happy I saw my plug wires sparking today. I'm happy because I just ordered new wires and one of my friends told me it was a total waste of money.
I just acquired the car in October and I want everying to be new and running perfect. Plug wires are one thing I wanted to replace because I have no idea when they were last changed - it could have been 38 years ago. I feel that if I do major tuneup work now, I will know when everything was last done and I can start from there.
I know I have heard a few zaps/sparks but I have never seen it happen. Even at night, I didn't see anything. Someone suggested holding the wires and I might feel a slight buzz - I didn't want to do that. But today, I noticed two wires sitting on top of each other and so I moved one of the wires so there would be a little space between them. I did this when the car was running and one plug wire immediately started arcing to to other wire.
I knwe I wasn't wasting money!
