Same tabs on my 86 944 na. I'm quite sure it applies to all.
Definitely not plastic welded on (why put an o-ring there if it's welded?)... Just carefully pry the 6 retaining clips, and it will pop right off.
Yeah, hopefully I don't leave any oil marks on the kitchen table, or the wife will be less than impressed.
