If it's a 2.5L DOHC, it's a 944S, a good engine, but it does have the additional cam chain pad to consider (they wear and do chip with age) if it breaks it's costly.
Also a bit more complicated when it comes time to change the cam and balance shaft belts, same goes for the 3.0L DOHC 944S2. Suggest you read the procedure located at;
Clark's Garage Home Page Look to the last listing in the "camshaft" section.
But they are good reliable engines, just a bit more complicated as noted above.
