A problem with the brake booster would be brakes which require more effort to stop. But the booster itself doesn't effect brake travel.
Your problem is either at the master cylinder or one of the slaves (caliper).
Did you do anything to the calipers recently? If they were rebuilt with new seals or the pads were replaced, often times the pistons need to be "reset" to get them close to the pads. Otherwise, you have a gap between the pads and the pistons. It usually takes a full pump of the pedal or more to get all of the pistons pushed up against the pads and close those gaps.
