Jack the car up (use jack stands) and disconnect the throttle linkage at the trans. bell crank. Make sure the pivot there is good. Then determine if the problem is fore or aft of that point. If before it may be a problem with the pivot at the pedal cluster or possibly a cable routing problem through the tunnel. If aft of there check the return springs on the engine and the bell crank pivot bolted to the back of the motor.
