Thanks, Orlando. I plan to pull out the floorboard tomorrow and see what's what. The zip-tie fix is definitely within my realm of capabilities.
I'm sure I snapped something with aggressive driving. It was early AM, driving the car on part 2 of a 750-mile trip home, and I had just gotten out of a godawful snarl of traffic, so I was already in a bad mood. Some cat in a late-model Mustang wanted to 'play', pulling up next to me, revving, then pulling in front of me, then again dropping back behind...only to do it over again.
And again.
And again.
Just as the left lane completely opened up, 'Whiplash' by Metallica came up on my playlist, and I took that as a sign. I had been driving very responsibly up until then, I swear. However, I was really getting tired of 'Mustang Guy', so I dropped it back into 4th, and went from there. After that was when I noticed my accelerator pedal was sticking.
You know what, though?
It was worth it.
