I've got the ventura system and I usually ride with the small pillion handle (or whatever they call it) since I have the saddlebags. Get the big one for sure... the other one that zips into it should be considered as optional, because there is a rack on the other side you can bungee a sleeping bag and tent to. If you get the smaller zip on bag, that is nice, but you will limit the width of the items you can mount to the open rack.
