Ventura System feedback/opinions, please.
Folks,
I've settled on the Ventura System for my R11S for some future touring; just not sure which of the bags to get. Anyone have experience with...opinions of...the bags? I'll use them with and w/o my system cases depending on the journey. I like the idea of the rectangular bag...Rally Pack...but the 45 liter "Spada" comes w/the kit (L-brackets, Pack Rack, Sport Rack, etc). One could then buy the 35 liter Delta and zip them together for 80 liter capacity. Anyway, just wondering if anyone has either/both set-ups and what the read is on them. Thanks for any feedback. I really don't know much about the Rev Pac bags. But, I do use kayak type dry bags. I don't see why you couldn't just use a few with the Rev Pak bracket and some bungees or Helen 2 Wheels straps.

I've got the ventura system and I usually ride with the small pillion handle (or whatever they call it) since I have the saddlebags. Get the big one for sure... the other one that zips into it should be considered as optional, because there is a rack on the other side you can bungee a sleeping bag and tent to. If you get the smaller zip on bag, that is nice, but you will limit the width of the items you can mount to the open rack.

Don,
I forgot to post my opinion. Good choice with the ventura. I can carry as much gear using the large rack (as I described) as my gs partner. You only need the one large bag (20 liters I think). Bungee the rest of the stuff that doesn't fit to the back.

I have the sport rack and the taller rack. Great function. Bag's are too expensive so I just bought the rack and use my own duffle back with bungie cords.

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
I ordered the parts on Thursday...(L brackets, Pack Rack, 45L bag, Sport Rack, and that cute little Grab Handle). Scott, I like what you said about using the back of the big rack for other than the Ventura - or any - bags, etc. Thanks. I sure do like the idea of that rectangular Rally bag (box) they have. 'Would give me an excuse to make quick grocery runs on the bike. ![]() 'May be doing some two-up touring, as well. Larger case lids in my future, I see. Also a tank bag. A fella can sure run out of room on a bike when he gets serious about traveling, eh? In the old days, I just strapped as many GI bags as would fit onto the R60US (homemade rear rack) and headed out for a 4,500 mile/three month trip. Even bungied a two-man tent onto the front fender longitudinally between the forks. Ah, the good old days. Thanks again. Don |
