While I don't have a solution for fixing, if you need to move the seat, it can be done with your fingers either pushing down or up (can't remember which) on the spring-loaded stopper in the track.

If you have access to a wrecking yard like pick-a-part, you might find a 944 which has the same seat tracks. I see 944's at the yard all the time.
