This happened to Cyndy's 'Guzzi a while back, in her work parking lot. We found the bike upright with a note stuck on the speedometer with some scribble on it like the guy made it look like he was leaving information. Bike had a bunch of damage. We canvassed all the storefronts and found a Mexican guy and his wife doing laundry across the parking lot. This guy, who could barely speak English, had written down the year, make and model, color and plate number of the pickup truck that knocked the bike over. Five minutes after the CHP showed up, they had his address and phone number. The CHP officer drove directly to the home where the parents tried to cover for the guy but changed their attitude when he called in an arrest warrant for hit-and-run. We had all the info we needed in less than 90 minutes. This is rare, we got lucky. They paid for all the repairs, and it wasn't cheap.
