I took the alarm out today. Some of the wiring was a pain to restore, but overall not to bad.
The keypad fell apart in my hand - the membrane for the keys had disintegrated.
The solenoid for the trunk lid was scorching hot - I think I know what was drawing my battery down.
Now I have a hole in my dash but I'm happier.
Strangely, the car seems to start more easily. I'm wondering if the alarm was delaying spark or fuel.
