Went to 911 engine school at Porsche back in the 80s..they were very precise about 911 valve adjustments.

Engine stone cold...004" very, very snug.

Use the two screw gauge holder..not the one screw model as it lets the feeler gauge strip move..you need to be able to remove the feeler gauge and not reinsert it.

Each feeler gauge strip should only last for one or at most two 911 valve adjustments. It becomes distorted and bent, a good sign.

Even a thou or two loose and the valves will be noisey.

The "old 911 specification" (some early under engine lid decals had that spec) was .002' to .006" cold..a very tight .004" is just fine.
