Yet another valve train noise ?

Need help diagnosing this engine tick. Just dropped the engine (2.4 T CIS)for resealing, valve adjustment, chain tensioner rebuild and head stud check. Engine ran great prior to drop and seems to run fine now. I've adjusted the valves three times by the conventional method. They may be a little on the loose side but the noise seems to be excessive. I am trying to include links to YouTube videos of the noise. Wish

Check the valves with the backside method. I bet the 0.003" feeler slides through easily.
Good luck!

I went thru that even adjusting several times, had to do valve guides, rockers and shafts. Nice and quiet now.

Went to 911 engine school at Porsche back in the 80s..they were very precise about 911 valve adjustments.

Engine stone cold...004" very, very snug.

Use the two screw gauge holder..not the one screw model as it lets the feeler gauge strip move..you need to be able to remove the feeler gauge and not reinsert it.

Each feeler gauge strip should only last for one or at most two 911 valve adjustments. It becomes distorted and bent, a good sign.

Even a thou or two loose and the valves will be noisey.

The "old 911 specification" (some early under engine lid decals had that spec) was .002' to .006" cold..a very tight .004" is just fine.

So the consensus is valves are too loose?
