...futhermore I had originally thought that the car needed more time to warm up to get into second gear. It appears however that in this instance the clamp on the coupler was sliding ever slightly until I could jostle after driving for awhile into second.

My concern is I wish to tighten this clamp sufficiently to prevent it re-sliding. Is there a method/torque to this? Should the clamp ends meet? Or is that too tight?Should the clamp ends meet?
