13mm shift coupler bolt...how tight?
It appears that my shift coupler was sliding little by litttle, so I had to re-adjust and tighten the clamp bolt. How tight should the bold be on the rod? Is there danger in over tightening this bolt?
Thanks

...futhermore I had originally thought that the car needed more time to warm up to get into second gear. It appears however that in this instance the clamp on the coupler was sliding ever slightly until I could jostle after driving for awhile into second.
My concern is I wish to tighten this clamp sufficiently to prevent it re-sliding. Is there a method/torque to this? Should the clamp ends meet? Or is that too tight?Should the clamp ends meet?

The ends should not meet. It's a matter of feel. Before you tighten up, make sure that it sits in the right position to get you a good shift for 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th. In other words, the 915 input shaft should be in neutral and the shift lever also in neutral before you tighten up. There are treads on the procedure. Cheers.

Mine do not quit meet I did not strip the bolt...but it's tight. Too bad there seems to be nothing more objective here to rely on. It's a 901, I test drove it and shifted well.
Guess I 'll have to get used to the "feel" thing with this. Any suggestions on preventing this thing from sliding again? Thanks........

If the input shaft on the 901 is the same as the 915, there should be a spline on both sides of the coupling. Make sure that there is no oil/grease on these spline ends. I usually put some grease on the clamp bolt so it tightens easier.

I noticed those splines. I did not think to check grease on them though. Anyway, after tightening the bolt, I put some Goop Automotive Adhesive Sealant around the nut, hopefully to dampen any vibrations that might loosen it.
Car drove and shifted well today. Thanks for the ideas.
