If you can afford the 3.6 thats the way to go-
High compression
twin plugs
EFI
cubic inches.
Emissions ease (if that is relevant).

But if you are like me, on a budget and are cocky enough to think you can rebuild yourself - a hot rodded 3.0 or 3.2 is probably plenty. A torky 3.2 with good throttle response should be plenty fast.
