I just spent 2 hours lifting my 930 engine into my '75 chassis, and everything was going smoothly-- UNTIL, I had the transmission loosely bolted up to the mounts, and the engine about 4 inches below its mounts.
I started raising up the engine so I could bolt up the motor mounts, and noticed that the flywheel-side engine tin sheetmetal (original 930 tin) was not clearing the engine bay. I think it's got an offset built in because the engine was mounted back further than standard in the 930 chassis (?). Anyway, did you guys use the 930 tin on your 930 conversions? What do I do to make it fit?
This picture is a view up to the flywheel-side tin on the passenger side. The circled area shows where the tin doesn't clear (it's the same on the driver's side), and will not allow the engine to be raised that last 4" into the bay. I could use the original 2.7 tin, but it doesn't have a cutout for the turbo oil pump...what to do?
Thanks!
