I was at Gunnar Porsche Racing here in West Palm around 4 months ago to see Kevin and I was looking at a Porsche 962 motor. It had collapsable oil return tubes in it. There's no problem with them and they are made from thicker metal and seem like higher quality if you ever look at them closely.
You can replace the green viton o-rings in them if you ever wanted or needed to.
Mine had collapsable ones in it when I bought it and when I rebuilt the top end I replaced the orings in them. The ones I took out weren't leaking and they looked fine so I saved them.
Anyway, I like them.
They are easy to remove and replace when the motor is completely together. You just have to remove the exhaust headers to get to them. To compress them you can remove the lower rocker cover and the snap ring on the tube and push the end of the tube towards the engine case with the handle of a screwdriver.
