Alternator w/ external regulator convert to internal regulator?
I am in the process of replacing my 79 SC alternator which appears to have an external voltage regulator according the Bentley manual. It also recommends upgrading to the newer style alternator with an internal regulator.
My question is, is this necessary and does it require re-wiring?
Also, I am told that the alternator may need to be pressed out of the fan. Is this true? From what I can read, it does not need to be pressed out.
