Over the years, the rake of the front windshield has got progressively more pronounced. At the rear, the older cars drop off considerably more. The top of the bumper on my 2005 is a full 6" higher than the top of the bumper on my 1996. I think the steep drop at the rear on the older cars gives them more of the 911 look everyone remembers.
