I don't know a lot about this bikes electrical system...but for what it's worth I had the brake-light (tail-light still worked) and some of the dash go out (tach, neutral light, and other warning lamps).
The electrical diagram has them on different fuses...but only one was burnt out. Changed it and everything was back to normal. Don't know why. Maybe there is a capacitor or a relay or a sensor in common?
Check your fuses.
