A mouse has used my BMW R1100S (BoxerCup replica, 2004) as a house. When I checked the bike, I noticed that the cable to the license plate was damaged. The license plate light didn't work anymore.
I have replaced the cable with a new one and I am sure it has been installed correctly (there's not a lot that you can do wrong). The light still doesn't work. I used a multimeter and found out that there is no 12V on the grey/black wire at the plug under the buddy. I checked the electrical schema and saw that the dashboard lighting is on the same wire. When I checked, I noticed that the dashboard light is also not working. My tail-light is working fine, so my fuse (fuse 2, 4A) should be fine. I am not sure what to check now? Is this electrical scheme correct for my kind of bike? |

I don't know a lot about this bikes electrical system...but for what it's worth I had the brake-light (tail-light still worked) and some of the dash go out (tach, neutral light, and other warning lamps).
The electrical diagram has them on different fuses...but only one was burnt out. Changed it and everything was back to normal. Don't know why. Maybe there is a capacitor or a relay or a sensor in common? Check your fuses. |

The electrical diagram that I used is supposed to be for R1100S models after 2001. But it is not correct for my 2005 R1100S BoxerCup. The color-coding of the wires to my headlights (low and high beam) are different. Also there are a lot more fuses then in the electrical diagram.
And you were right... Another fuse (that isn't in the diagram) was blown. I replaced it and it works again. Thanks for your response! |
