She's Back
Well after a crash this past summer and having shoulder surgery afterwards, I finally got motivated to start doing the paint work on all the panels which I had purchased. I bought an aluminum cage on EBAY for a 100 bucks and that was bent and the hardest pill to swallow in the rebuild was buying a one new for 680 bucks. The part listed for 850. It was worth it though after messing with the bent one. So much time had transpired I could not go back to the seller from EBAY. He told me it came from a complete bike that had not been crashed. Well when I got the new one I realized how bad it was bent. Just an FYI for anyone planning to make the same purchase. Then the shock tower was cheap at 100 bucks, new ignition switch with a gas cap and lock for the rear seat a few hundred. I was able to get a wiring harness with the buckets and fuses and relay's intact for another hundred Also, something someone may find interesting is that I put a Rockster Gauge Cluster on it. So far based on the RPM's and the speedo, it is pretty much as accurate as the factory one, but looks so much better and more modern. Its like it freshened the whole bike up.
Not counting my labor, all the monies involved with the repair made it about a 2000.00 mishap. I can't imagine having to pay someone to paint it or worse yet buy the panels painted. I decided to do the bag covers in blue and put the checks on them. The thing almost looks as good with bags now as without. I had wanted to do this since I first purchased it.
