I don't like the looks of squished or damaged pleats on K&N air filters or copies of them and there's a way to install one without bending it.
Put a floor jack under the motor and support it's weight. Then loosen the two rear motor mount bolts and lower the back of the motor down around 5 inches and then there's plenty of room to install the filter on the air flow meter housing.
There's no reason to leave the original air cleaner housings metal and rubber gasket on the AFM and the new filter fits better without it.
Then raise the motor back up, get the two bolts started, and tighten them.
Use some grease or anti seize on the bolt threads so they don't corrode and get stuck in the cross bar and bend it the next time someone tries to loosen them.
