Our dog fully understands that, he is just not quite smart enough to figure out how to get under a blanket and still turn in a circle a few times and dig at the bedding first. I don't think he can just lay down without first turning in a few circles. Besides, there is usually a human nearby to cover him up. It is a good thing he is not spoiled or anything.
