I'm in the exact same boat. I'd like to know if I fixed the leak. Best I can tell it wouldn't damage the engine. Idling with no tranny would be similar to idling with the clutch disengaged.....I think. But it would be nice to have an opinion from someone who has done this.
"Why bother", JFP? Because it's a pain in the ass to install/remove the transmission.
