Ok, now what I'm seeing makes sense.
Here's the part (shift rod bushing) you need:
Tangerine Racing Transmission/Rear Axle Products
The bushing goes at the firewall where the shift rod is protruding at the firewall (the right one in you original picture). You can then lose that other piece that's protruding from the firewall on the left (parts 40 and 41 in my pic).
