Short Shift Install Question

Just replaced the plastic bushing for the throttle rod. Had to remove the shift mechanism. I have a short shift kit. When I unbolted the shifter 3 allen head bolts
and 2 smaller allens a spacer block dropped down into the tunnel so I did not see how it was fitted. If appears that it spaces the rear of the shifter as the holes align with the 2 small allens but that doesn't seem to work. What am I missing here?

Some of the short shifters use a base plate to lift the shift tower, but I can't think of how a spacer at the rear would help. You might want to add some pictures to help get soe additional comments.

Just a thought... it could be a spacer to lower the 90 deg bracket under the two smaller allens to space the shift rod down instead of using the large base plate.

Hi, regarding the spacer block for the existing short shifter, did you determine how it goes together? I have the same issue with my '77 930.
