930 rear spoiler vs 911

I bought a rear spoiler and deck lid apparently for a turbo which it turned out not to be as there was no space for the intercooler.
I have trimmed the deck lid so it fits.
The question I have is ........is there a difference between the turbo spoiler and a carrera spoiler.
As it does not appear to have enough room to fit the intercooler shroud.

Yes

Carrera deck lid opening is smaller as no intercooler from the 930

The Carrera OEM rubber is thinner than the 930 too

I did trim the deck lid so there is room for the intercooler.

So now the deck lid appears as if was for a 930.

It appears that the spoiler itself is not raised enough above the intercooler and I am thinking the 930 must be different from the 911. I just have not been able to see a noticeable difference from any pictures.

Can't say if it's the problem but left side around the radius setback is also cutout on a stock 930 lid. I feel like it tapers in more by the hinge however its butt cold outside and I'm in for the night.

Hi slyguy,

Stay in and warm.
Here in New South Wales we had temps of 48degrees centigrade .....approx 118f.
Thank goodness not here on the coast.

The deck lid is fine and the intercooler fits nicely.

It is just the shroud that does not have enough room above the intercooler, between it and the vented spoiler.

I am assuming the turbo vents in the “tea tray” are a higher profile than the 911.

uh, no.... Carrera tail. The base is different from the tea tray base. The rubber lip is also a different thickness, and has the mounting bolts in different locations.

someone who thought the same as you (despite the thread title, carrera base & lip) 930 spoiler with Carrera Rubber Lip - and thread has side shots of both the turbo and carrera wing bases make it very clear what the difference is (clearance in the deck/base for the intercooler, essentially)

pictures of the differences in the lip mounting Carrera tail rubber on a turbo whale tail base

This thread has a picture of a late Ruf (slotted rear bumper) with a Carrera lip on a turbo base Removing My Turbo Tail - Help
and a link to alwaysflat6s's post explaining what he hated about it when he did exactly that on his Ruf clone RUF CTR Tail

Thanks spuggy,

It is a bit confusing as the tea tray appears to be a turbo and the new turbo rubber lip bolted straight onto it with the bolt positions lining up fine.

Heh, my bad. I see the lip on your original picture is a tea-tray now. Optical illusion...
