shift rod seal replacement
Have been putting up with a pesky little leak from the shift rod seal. It's making a mess on an otherwise leak free engine, and is probably getting worse as time goes by. Plus, it's pissing me off.
I've done such a replacement once many moons ago with the engine out of the car (not this car), but in this instance there's no way in hell I want to drop the engine for a pesky $4.50 seal. Found this tech article in the Pelican archives: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/mult_shifter_rod_seal/mult_shifter_rod_seal.htm Does that method work well for y'all that have tried it? I don't want to get in there and totally dork up the seal and have to do it the hard way.

Hey Mark,
I replaced mine with everything in the car, was a slight pain in the ass, but a little patience and you can get it done. Removing the old seal was harder than installing the new one. And re-installing the rubber boot cover will also tax your patience! My boot came off 2 or 3 times after the repair, until I finally got it properly placed. Best of luck! Mark |

This will be project #2, following replacing one spring on one of the parking brake shoes that broke a long time ago and can be heard scratching around. Very annoying. Pelican fixed me up with one spring and two washers - and exorbitant shipping for something you could stick a stamp to and mail USPS. Oh well, gotta have it. (Pelican moderators: Love you guys but I'll lmao when a big box shows up with these small little parts "-)
