need whole turbo setup
Hey Folks,
I had a line on a local guy that was removing his entire turbo setup and going back to stock. Ended up selling the car instead. I am back to the drawing board for parts. Looking for J pipe and any other components to convert my 3.2, with Turbo Tail, into a Turbo. Complete set up would be ideal. This has to be the best place to look and get lucky. Thanks, Chris 89, 3.2, G50 Carrera |

Start with plug and play standalone ECU so you can actually control the turbo setup, for example VEMS that plugs into factory DME connector and has integrated wideband lambda controller. www.facebook.com/vemsporsche
I would not buy eny factory parts as they are not optimal at all. I would make custom twin scroll J-pipe and downpipe, buy biggest intercooler I can fit from ebay, modify end tanks, buy 600+ cc injectors and start looking at stronger clutch

Factory j-pipe just merges two exhaust flows together, nowadays it would be pointless not to go divided turbine. Plus it is easy to make your own j-pipe.

the j pipe just replaces stock cat with a place for the turbo and wastegate to go.

If I were to do this I'd pick-up a set of used turbo headers w/or without heat, puts you ahead of the came since you're modding anyway.
Couple of different flavors to go with turbo & wastegates, keeping in mind that you will build/set for low boost application given the 3.2 CR. Unless you're planning to swap pistons for a lower CR than standard Carrera. Your biggest decision in my opinion will be what intercooler set-up and electronics you want to run. This may might solve your IC decision.. (no affiliation) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/1030425-fs-full-bay-intercooler-carrera-intake.html

I am hesitant to replace the headers as I need to keep it simple at this point. The exhaust bolts are all original and will probably break some when removing. I need heat. J pipe, chip, ebay IC is what I am thinking now. I can improve over time. Engine will have to come apart sometime. Can lower compression, upgrade rod bolts, etc then. One step at a time.
For now KISS it. Get the turbo installed, learn, tune and improve is the path I am thinking. Chris |

Jay pipe should work for you.. try DC Auto in NC or WeekendRides in Scranton they may have one, or of course TurboKraft in AZ. Once together, instead of a generic chip, see John Behe and let him tune/burn you a chip set to you configuration. Good luck, have fun!
