76 930 with Lim Slip 915 Trans Clutch and Flywheel options??
What Clutch and Flywheel would you use on this set up. It needs a 6 bolt flywheel.
What clutch set up? Part numbers would be great. Let me know. Thanks. T

I have a clutch kit I took out of my 78 930 conversion that still had a 915.
finally found a short bell housing 930 gearbox I plan to use. have not checked to see if my clutch will work on that or not.

It won't work, different stack. 78 930 conversion.. if 3.3 is different crank than early 3.0 930. Early 3.0 based on 6 bolt 2.7 crank and clutch pack is different.

Just get a 6 bolt 225 flywheel and a strong sachs kit like the SPORT aluminum setup. It'll hold 300hp/325tq fine.
Here's a good one WVO STRTLT 915 6, WVO-STRTLT-915-6, WVO.STRTLT.915.6, WVOSTRTLT9156

Also if you're wanting a bit more boost/power then try the centerforce 225 unit, not aluminum but it's strong and not expensive.

Is a Sport PP actually more clamping power, or just less rotating mass at the same spec? I had the impression it was the latter, but it's so long since I pored over the specs trying to find something to work, I forget... Find someone who knows, or find the specs and order the appropriate parts; There is a 915 pressure plate marked "ZF Sachs Race Engineering" that'll comfortably hold well over 400FWHP - my shop said it was the closest thing to an RSR clutch they can still get. But its a PITA, you don't want to resort to that unless you have to - and overkill for a 3.0 930 in stock-ish trim. But they also do multiple options in-between, depending on what you need. An important thing to bear is mind when comparison shopping is that specs from Sachs apparently have a safety margin of about 20% baked-in - as in, if Sachs quote 300 ft/lbs, everybody concerned would be pretty surprised if it let go before 360 ft/lbs or so. Aftermarket clutches usually do not - or so I've been told (I only ever used Sachs parts). As in, if they quote 300 ft/bs, it might let go at 301.

I’ve had so many clutch combos with that engine trans combo that I feel like I have some experience. Yes the power clutch slips while not really feeling like it’s slipping. it does wear out with .8bar boost. The centerforce did hold better. Enough to break the second gears of two 915 transmissions.
The stock 930 clutch doesn’t hold much better than the 225mm power clutch. It let’s go more obviously. I didn’t try the 225mm sport clutch because it’s expensive. The power clutch is aluminum though.

Ya that 4puck would be horrible. Again the centerforce was good. It was drivable and held power. And then tranny issues followed.

here are pics of what I have. it was on the 3.3 motor with a 915 gearbox.
the part number on the PP is a little different. cant read the part number on the disk but would get a new one if I tried to use this PP and flywheel is a 930 part number.

915 Sachs RE all the way
Best to stick with either the Sachs Performance / RE clutch or then the KEP. What to avoid would be the Sachs Power Clutch because the never last and fracture often.
The picture in the blue box is a standard 915 Power Clutch. Pic 1 is SRE, notice higher quality materials and stronger limit straps. This is a very important feature. ![]() Pic 2 : KEP clutch and disc. The disc features fuller face lining to that of the newer 915 clutches. ![]() Pic 3 : SRE Clutch and EPW 915 225 Forged Steel Flywheel ![]() ![]() KEP 915 Stage 1 clutch set : Great quality and value, very durable. Florged alumin cover, HD limit straps..etc. ![]() Standard 915 disc vs SRE disc. Big cost and enginnering feature differences ![]() ![]() Don't waste resources on this Power Clutch ![]() ![]()
