DP935 finally painted
After reading the "dead meat" thread, and being an old timer on this board, plus being old, I figured I'd post the some re-assembly shots. I pretty much hot rod everything, so I changed a few things as I went along.
A brief history. I bought the car in 2005, it was black with "pimp my ride stripes", and in need of some love. Andial did the conversion in the early 80's and built the 3.5 twin plug motor. At the end of 2006 I pulled the motor & trans to have the trans re-freshed. The trans went to Wevo. Turns out it had a Andial 8:39 r&p and a limited slip, which were parts I was going to add. Since the motor was out I took it to Jerry Woods for a tune up, went down hill really fast. A complete rebuild, and replace anything that was worn. Around that time I picked up a DP intercooler on ebay. John at SSI was developing a kit for the 930 so I picked up a not quite complete kit which Jerry Woods finished. Jerry also ditched the turbo pump and machined a gravity return sump plate. Living in NorCal it had to pass smog and visual so we kept the CIS and smog stuff. The dyno showed 390 chp at .9 bar. Around the end of 2009 I came across a pair of DP13x15 Fuchs and another DP front spoiler. I retired and we moved at the end of '09. Every time I get ready to paint the car I get side tracked onto some other project. The paint was looking pretty pathetic so I finally took the car apart last August. I decided to change a few things, delete the front badge, fill the antenna hole, remove the side slats, and do something different with the back. I deleted the rear reflector and made the valance similar to the newer style DP. I didn't like the sound of the DP muffler so I made the twin center pipes a few years back. I was looking for a used rubber tail to chop up and re fashion in the style of the 75-77 tails. Will get to that in the future. Decided to go with Mexico Blue. Got the car back last October. Since I have to roll the bus out to work on the car, it sat over the winter. At this point I'm about 2/3's thru the assembly. Had to disassemble the headlight assemblies and fix a few things. Now waiting for parts. Also swapping out the Bilstien/Smart Racing front struts for the Ohlins adjustable struts. I swapped over to the Wevo/Ohlins rear adjustable shocks shortly after I got the car. In the photos car is sitting on Ronal R9 8&9's I picked up earlier this year from a fellow Pelican. Recently bought a set of 9&10 x 17 BBS 3 pc wheels with what looks like E26 centers. Will paint the wheels black. As far as the interior, the car came with Recaro electric seats, They're heavy but comfortable. Over the years I built an adjustable gas pedal, custom tach and pressure gauge, and added a Wevo shifter. Also installed a RS carpet kit. I picked up a Kremer steering wheel a few years back and recently shipped it out to get re-covered. The first shot is when I first got the car. The motor back from Jerry Woods. Now being re-assembled. While I own the car it will always be a driver. Fun stuff. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice work Harold and glad to see someone doing what they want with their own car dammit. I’m still here, car is all squared away for the moment and with 3 kids in college that’s a good thing. I intend to 500hp EFI mine at turbokraft before I shut it down work-wise.
Post as many pics as you want!

That’s what I was thinking. It would be cool to custom powder coat them a color that would work well with that Mexico Blue.

Good job on transforming your car!! Mexico Blue color is one of my favorites. The back end of your 930 goes together really well.

Put the fat tires back on. Putting off the worst part until last, which is installing the rear quarter windows. Hopefully the steering wheel will be ready this week.

I'll pop over and do them for you if you get stuck. Alan

Come on over. The only thing stopping me from driving are the quarter window seals. When I did manage to get one in it wasn’t tight to the post on the door side so the door would get caught on the seal trying to close. I’m being tortured by what should be a fairly simple task.
