75' Turbo long shot
Took up the challenge getting a 75' 930 back to its original state.
Finding the correct parts all over the world,my last find is the very diffecult 75' only wastegate. This one will be send out tommorow for restoration, here is the long shot. Might anybody have a nos or perfect rubber wastgate condome? ![]() ![]() ![]() Should come out like this after they are ready, and when i can fine a the correct rubber. ![]() |

That is an AiResearch (Garrett, now Honeywell) wastegate common to construction equipment. Caterpillar for sure.
Any business specializing in heavy trucking and construction diesel turbos should be able to help you. It would be best if you hand carry it in for them to see. Part numbers may reflect a special, highly marked up price, Porsche part number. They would have no records of this situation. |

I have seen some on e-bay for the later style, not sure if they are interchangeable.

Will look in to this. The later used wastegate uses a other other one,and still available. I found the matching engine deep down in Germany,or at least what was left of it. It was fully restored, but they chanced the top oil feed, looking also for this. ![]() Last edited by Dwerkz; 03-01-2017 at 01:09 AM.. |

Do you mean the early turbocharger oil supply line, or the early camshaft housing oil lines?

Very nice find! Look forward to seeing it when restored.
There were two styles of Garrett wastegates used in 1975, this was the earlier design. At some point the top cover changed design (I'm still looking for good photos of that second variation).

Thx Ryan
Almost there, found the the correct CIS last week here on Pelican. The wastegate is under restoration in Germany, the rubber valve was still ok,and whit out holes. Looking more closely to all parts and stamps, i found out the cam housings are not correct date stamped. They have the serial 930 105 021 00 wich on my info is a correct nr for this engine. But a later production date,so i will have these chanced to the correct date ones. I have seen early Turbo's also whit the serial 901 106 111 1R wich i think is a 3 bearing housing. Can somebody confirm the early 75/76 where using the 3 bearing housings? Here a pic of redwinelovers engine restoration also whit the 901 serial, wich i hope he will not mind using for reference ![]() |

Who did your wastegate work, if I might ask. It is perfect, and I know of no source in the USA that can do comparable work.
FYI, the statement that the Porsche wastegate is identical to a Caterpillar or Airesearch model is not true. It is similar, but definitely not the same. See the pics below. This one is an early model for CNG. ![]() ![]() |

The search is continuing, found the correct distributor pretty much complete here on the forum a while back.
It was in bad shape, but solvable. The fuel distributor was restored, together whit the various other specific parts. ![]() ![]() |
