I'm looking to "update" the look of my 1987 930 wheels to more of a Singer wheel combo look. I'm looking at 9's in front with 255/40 tires and 11's in back with 315/35 tires. Has anyone else gone to this set up and are you glad (performance, stability, quickness / weight issues) you did? Thanks in advance!

I love everything about it. The 17x9x11 wheels look great, are lightweight, and are significantly more grippy than the stock 16x7x9 sizing. The only downside is cost.

Great feedback. Yes of course putting price aside, the wider set up is awesome. Have you noticed any performance results? Good or bad? Also what rim did you go with?
Does anyone know the difference in stock Fuchs versus new rim weights in 9’s amd 11’s? |

I'll have to go home and look for pics of the weights of the wheels. I posted about them maybe a decade ago when I first got them, so the information is here on Pelican somewhere. They're light, like in the neighborhood of under 17 lbs for the fronts, and maybe 18 lbs for the rears. I have the "Zuchs."
Because of their light weight, I don't notice much of a negative with them. Just more grip in cornering. The steering is only heavier by a little bit at parking lot speeds.

That makes perfect sense. I've been looking at the wheels by Braid which seem similar and they were very helpful in introductory inquiries.

My Lindsey 11-9/17 Fuchs: rear rim is 52lbs or 23.7 kg, front is 40lbs or 18.2kg so not so light IMO but the grip with R888 315 is great

Great feedback! Yes the search for light as well as strong wheels is a bit of a wormhole. I'm looking at the 17x9's at around 17.5 lbs (rim only). I've found most brands are in that neighborhood. most are about .5 lb apart or so.

The benefits are obvious, but the trade off is higher unsprung weight/rotating mass, and heavy steering at parking lot speeds. Parking with 255s up front is no joke!

So like a mini bicep workout. I guess I could live with that if that was the only real challenge. I just love the stance (more modern) with that 9 and 11 set up. Grip has to be a bunch of fun. Just didn't want to notice a difference in acceleration factors if you will do the extent that it would make me regret the "upgrade" in wheel and tire.

930 Wheel Upgrade question
Ditto to all above. No adverse affects.
I also added a few engine mods at the same time and would be nervous driving the car with the stock wheel and tire sizes now. I think first gear boost would be a smoke show. One thing to look for if wanting the Singer look is the soft lip. Fiske makes the Singer wheels with the soft lip and that's why I chose them. Some of the aftermarket wheels have the hard lip and outer step. They don't looks as good to me. I did a Gold RSR Style for something different. ![]()

I'm running 17X9&11's with no issues. The taller wheel and tire combo will give you more gear as well. Hello 70mph downshifts into 2nd and you can't beat the looks of the fender flare's completely filled up!

Huge fan of maximizing the wheel well, why have it and not use it? Yes big tires are heavy and cost power etc etc, just turn up the boost 1/10th bar to compensate. Nothing takes a car from neat looking to bad-ass like a big set of meats.

Thats a perfect wheel gap and size! Love it! Also the slight boost tweak is a good suggestion. there is ALWAYS a give and take type of situation with a modification and that's a good tip!

A few posts above, Derrick mentioned the soft vs hard lip/shoulder. The Fikse wheel has the soft shoulder (like real Fuchs). In short, I prefer it significantly to the other manufacturers who make Fuchs replicas with the hard edge. I didn't think I would care, but after I had seen both, I had a clear preference. I think it's hard to pick up in pictures, but I clearly see it in person.

I love that detail in the comments but I'm not sure exactly what is being referenced. Does anyone have a pic? Fiske is a significant investment but what isn't when you are dealing with superior product and design anyways.

There are at least two very good threads on wheels and offsets, sizes, styles, etc.
To get you started: Another 930 wheel picture thread... sorry! How to make widebody 911 steering feel like a narrowbody 911?

These are Lindseys although at this time I had 275 on the rear.
