Is This an Early Turbo Tail, and What is it Worth?
I want to swap to an IROC wing since my GT2 tail ended up being for a 993 (anyone want it?). After I pulled my whale tail I noticed what felt and looked like 930 part numbers in the correct location for 930 part numbers, under a few layers of paint.
The rubber on the tail is not correct, and I haven't yet scraped the paint, but if it is a real fiberglass 3.0 turbo tail, what is it worth without the correct rubber? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looks the goods. A good one can range from $1000 to $3000 or higher.
There is a market for them, depends on how long you want to wait for to $. Yes, the rubber is incorrect. This will reflect in the price, could almost half it. The more I google "early 930 whale tail" I find more people want them than there are ones for sale. |

Cool, thanks for the info guys, I've noticed they are tough to come by, and the couple I've seen were $2k+. Looks like it's time to clean it up and uncover that part number!

Has the small second grill. This would be for a non-ac car.

Second question: is it possible that my German ROW 82' SC could've come with this from the factory? If so I wouldn't want to get rid of it. I hear rumors that in '82 you could only get the 3.3 tail, but that might have been US only.
Is there any way to tell from a VIN decide or something? |

I believe you could order that tail on an sc in 80-83.

It did but I just deleted it, hehe
![]() Tough to tell if it was ordered like that though, all the lines were new and the center console had the cut out where the knobs could've been installed. My car had some odd things done to it in the 90's I think. Just didn't know if there was a true way to reference the VIN to a Porsche order number or something. |

3.0 Whale tail
Hi, got one which came extra with the car when I bought it. Seems to be original with the part number clearly visible. As with most of them, the rubber was busted. Wasn't going to use it and bought a GRF one which had a GRF lip incorporated. Decided to take a mold it the lip and managed to make a removable lip.

OEM no. is placed on the metal in the middle section for the 75-77 early whale tail, both aircon and non aircon

Is that rubber or some other material? I think there are a lot of tails out there that need these. I’m interested if you’re making more. S.

Texture on that part is very important. The wrong texture ruins the look.
