930 IM has a crack. How to use a 964 IM?
Some questions
1. Throttle linkage Is it on the right side and how to work it out? 2. Are both alu and plastic mainifolds with that odd shaped intake to TB? Some items on ebay have a 90 degree elbow but is it at the rear of the car? I would prefer front for IC routing. 3. Alu or plastic? 4. Any other IM? 3.2 manifolds are underground, only one on ebay and without fuel rails or TB. 964 IM are plenty on ebay. ITBs are tempting but big step in price and no one seems to sell a boosted kit? Had an engine fire so its an open canvas. Thinking about tesla conversion also but thats big money so not the first step. I can go efi or CIS, so its really open now. But money is tight and she needs paint job minimum from doors back and roof. Maybe the whole car as I have it stripped of wires and interior already. Rear glass broke so interior and electrics need to be done from scratch. Thinking going PDM. Insurance but ****ed me so I have to be creative. They compared her to low end 3.2 because mine was a hot rod with efi and stripped to 1100 kg. Yeah, I did complain but they used a independent (clueless) value office. Dont know the english term for it.

The 964 manifold uses a cable throttle, so that has to be dealt with. The 964 uses a three bolt flange at the cylinder head, so that has to be adapted. The nylon reinforced plastic manifold doesn’t have much of a safety margin strength-wise; better off using aluminum.

Thanks, Adapt motorsport sells 2 hole adapters and fuel rails if needed. Are there intake side adapters that could be used for boosted conversions? Maybe electric throttle body?
Does the TB point to rear or front?

Oh ****. That's too bad!
Did you have a fire extinguisher to stop the fire or was it fire brigade that did that? I have been looking for the ELEMENT fire sticks but for some reason they don't sell them in Europe. Just today I tried to order them through Pelicanparts but they don't ship them to Finland.

Did not have one on hand this summer as all was going too well with no problems in couple of summers. Dennis mentioned a light weight kit that I must look into when I get this back on road. Ordering tons of parts and stuff for it and prepping for some paint work. Installing a PDU to clean up the wiring too.
Havent desided which way to go with intake yet. Although I did buy an 930 IM just incase... Got her on diet for 12kg or 26lb already. Should be well under 1100 kg with the zork now.

Hi Smurf,
PDU/PDM can be a good option. ECU Masters makes a good one for the money. (Their ECU is pretty good, too, but really you want to choose the one you're comfortable with, or that your tuner knows best.) Avoid the InfinityBox PDM. Maybe it has been dramatically improved, but the last one we used was 2 years ago and it was not good. IF considering EFI... Why the added complexity of the 964 manifold? That puts you into full-custom fabrication territory: - injector bases and fuel rails - center plenum, do you keep/use the flap? What will you have to do to make it survive boost? - cable throttle -- what's the solution? Will it still have a regressive rate for driveability and control - how to overcome the fact it is very tall relative to other manifolds, making fitting a sizeably thick intercooler a challenge (993T intercooler is about 60mm thick). We've done all this before, and frankly it was not worth it on a small displacement (<3.6L) Turbo engine. It would be far easier to do a simpler 3.2 Carrera manifold conversion (manifold + throttle body + linkage + fuel rails). Add our manifold adapters, and it all bolts together. Adapt your intercooler and you're pretty much done. Even easier: use TK's EFI Injector Blocks with your stock flat manifold. 16Volt can confirm that it utterly transforms the car, a night-and-day difference compared to CIS with regards to driveability and performance. Even with stock ports, his 3.3L with SC cams and bolt-ons (headers, muffler, GT35R, TK Longneck intercooler) makes a solid, repeatable 465whp on our terrible 91-octane (similar to your 95RON). If you enlarge the engine ports, and it just gets better and better. If your manifold is bad, finding a replacement one is easy. We probably have 8-10 on a shelf, more in storage. And if you really like the idea of e-throttle (which is frankly pretty awesome for optimizing driveability) then a Bosch units like the 996/997 one will essentially bolt on to a 930 or 3.2 manifold and make the conversion as easy as possible. SpennyB has this on his 964 Turbo, and it works amazing. You're always welcome to email us.

Chris. Thank for the lenghty info. Most of it I had already on my notebook. I have already bought 930 IM for spare and yesterday I bought something new atleast for me. It will have DBW, ID1050x and water to air cooling. Your kit would have been my choise if I had not chosen something new.
For pdu Im leaning towards a local guy with two slaves and master. Should be extra clean and enough outputs. Dbw needs a controller and an another local guy has made one for ms3 users.
