Small Displacement (Under 3.0L) Turbo Questions
Obviously the go-to turbo case is the 3L 930 case.
BUT What if I wanted to build a 2.8L or something like that? Is it best to avoid a 2.7 Mag case and try to get my hands on a 2.4 case? If so, would any of the cases be fine? I dont know the Just thinking outside the box (case ![]() Thanks -Simon

Even better would be an early aluminum 2.0L case, with all the later mods done to it. I've been collecting parts to do just that - hopefully I'll actually get to it someday lol.

Only the early cases were aluminum and they are now about $8k and up. Later 2.0-2.7 were mag.

Early cases up through 68 1/2 or so (?) were aluminum. And yeah they're getting expensive unfortunately. There's one for sale now in the 911 classifieds, I think it's $6k.
For what it's worth, the motor in post #2 is a stock mag case 2.7. Wouldn't be my choice but done right and not over-stressed, I guess it can be accomplished. Cooling is the key to doing it right (oil and intercooler), and it's where some bolt-on conversions fall short. |
