Well I am going to finish everything up and get the plumbing ran before I try another restart maybe this weekend. But at least I know it will start and that’s important

gsmith660 08-02-2025 12:49 PM

First start is done by forum standards I can’t upload the video to the forum but it did happen

gsmith660 08-03-2025 11:43 AM

First drive happened today! The tune is way off so I need to get that sorted out fix a small oil leak and replace the fuel pressure regulator but it runs and drives so life is good

Next I need to get the bonnet and bumper on and replace the FPR to eliminate a vacuum leak and a small oil leak

So it turns out the guy that was helping me tune the engine for whatever reason has gone dark on Facebook and I have no other way to contact him we had plans to have him remote in on my tuning laptop while I drove around he was going to adjust but I guess that ain’t happening. So my plan right now is to page by page in my tune compare what I have now to the last msq I had that ran well on the old engine and validate all the settings. I need another set of eyes to look at my VE table and spark table to ensure they are good for a 3.2 liter turbo any suggestion.

gsmith660 08-09-2025 07:23 AM

I had an issue with hunting idle and from research I see low pulse width may be the cause so I lowered fuel pressure to increase pulse width and for the most part it has evened out any suggestions from my megasquirt friends

Well it appears I have finally found the oil leak that killed the 2.7 the oil supply line to the turbo had failed which explains why the turbo had failed as well at 60 psi it was a pretty good spray and corresponds to the cooked oil on my muffler so I am glad that mystery is solved.

I am having drivability issues at idle and low engine load! I am wondering if I need to go back to the 30 lb injectors for the time being until I am ready to step up the output and the engine gets broke in any thoughts on this?

gsmith660 08-16-2025 05:00 PM

I have got it so it will idle and will start back up immediately after shutdown so I am making progress

gsmith660 08-17-2025 07:55 AM

Actually a pretty successful first drive still have issues with the idle and coming off throttle but I had no coughing or sputtering I have a couple datalog if anyone wishes to take a look

So my oil leak is perplexing to say the least it has certainly decreased by replacing the hose that caused the demise of my 2.7 but it is still a substantial leak. Thought it was coming from the crankcase vent cover but that is not the case I have most of the intake system torn down and the oil cleaned up so I am going to crank the engine with a good view and see if I can spot the leak.

With all the stuff in the way on top of a 930 engine, you might want to try a UV dye in your oil to find the source of the leak. Don’t get the crap they sell at autozone.

Productive day got the car to start easy and idle well may have solved the stalling issue as well also got the second EDIS controller fixed and the car started on the second controller so I officially have twin plug now

gsmith660 08-27-2025 07:31 AM

Had a VERY good 30 mile drive the drivability of the car is really good still have some issues to work out but they are smoothing out aggressive tuning will not take place until break in is done then I will hit it hard still have about 90 miles to go on break in

Well this thread is coming to a close its been a year on this engine build just tuning now work out issues with the 60 lb injectors they dont play well with low rpm and pulse width. My electrical issues are solved and now we move to phase 2 upgrade my transmission

I've got to think this is either something in the tuning software's settings, or a function of the injector drivers in the ECU.
Or are you running batch fire / semi-sequential?

60# is a common "small" injector on sequential EFI systems, and we've run 2,000cc injectors perfectly on engines idling at <800rpm.
