oil drain plug as return for turbo

Is there a fitting that would allow this? I have an 84 block. Thanks....

I drilled a hole through a brand new plug and then welded a steel AN fitting on with a barb.

Worded funky. Drilled hole the same size as the Push Lok AN style cone male fitting. Then, I stuck a drill bit the size of the hole to ensure perfect alignment followed by MIG welding. Then I simply used a Push Lok 90° swivel fitting with a barb to the hose with a hose clamp over the hose and barb.

But does it leave enough ground clearance? I've thought about doing that too but was too scared to risk hitting something with it and tearing the oil pan.

I bought a cheap oil drain plug from AutoZone or other FLAPS to weld a 45* cone male fitting to.

I drilled an internal hole the size of this male fitting below into the oil drain plug above while holding in place during the weld with a drill bit the size of the hole. I lopped off some of the pipe threads on the male fitting below so it wouldn't stick out too far, but not too much to allow enough material to weld to and use a wrench on the male fitting flats. The flats of the oil drain plug were sacrificed during welding.

Lastly, I used this barb from Push-Lok (hydraulic fitting company) that has a barb I run Push-Lok hose from that mates to the turbo oil drain fitting I also have a barb on secured with hose clamps.

All parts are steel so I could weld to them.

Since the swivel 90* gets so close to one of the header primaries, I had to wrap the primary with header wrap in about a 3" wide section to keep the radiant heat away.

Works fine.

To drain the oil, I have to loosen and remove the 90, drain the oil from the turbo hose (not much from the hose), but the sump holds a lot (obviously).

Tippy, can you post a pic, or did you already? I'm texting and driving, so can't check.

Heres what i did. Obviously, mine is a 3.0 with the sump plate, but you should be able to use it for your application also.
It is a banjo oil fitting from Setrab

No worries on the side drain plug. I have the sump plate on mine. That banjo does not make it much lower though.

i think jfairman has done this or he routed it to dump into the breather on the triangle of death.

if you ran it to the drain plug would you still need the turbo oil pump?

I used a -10AN to M18.5 x 1.5 fitting from Jegs and connected that to a -10AN 90 degree swivel with braided hose which connects to the drain fitting on my GT3076R turbo on my 3.2.

This is the best pic I could find

No leaks and no issues ... been using this setup for the last 3 years. No scavenge pump required. To drain the oil, I just loosen the 90 degree swivel and let it drain in to a big bucket.

The other end ....

The pipe looks close to the turbo flange coming off the turbo drain but I can get 2 fingers in there so enough room for heat dissipation I would think.

My car is gravity drain into the sump. I've never had a problem with gravity being able to keep up. No smoke underboost. No smoke at startup

The run into the chain boxes or oil plug don't require a pump but the line into the triangle of death area or the tank requires a pump.
