Help Sererating Engine And Transmission
HI GUYS,
I REMOVED FOUR NUT TO SEPERATE THE G50 TRANSMISSION BUT IT STILL WILL NOT SEPERATE. I CAN MOVE THE UNITS APART 1/4 INCH BUT THEN THE UNITS SNAP BACK TOGETHER. AM I MISSING SOMETHING? I'D APRECIATE SOME HELP SINCE I SPENT MOST THE DAY ON THIS ONE ISSUE. I DO NOT WANT TO FORCE THE UNITS APART WITHOUT CHECKING WITH THE EXPERTS FIRST. THANKS. V. |

Porsche uses a pull-type pressure plate/TO bearing. The fork has to be released from the bearing. I've never done a G50 specifically, but I'm sure it's similar to the 930. The actuating lever nees to be removed allowing the fork-shaft to rotate away from the slotting bearing. There is an inspection port at the top of the bell housing to line this up when re-installing.

yes you need to remove the small rubber plug one the side of the release lever pivot and remove the lever pivot pin from the transaxle. just thread a small bolt into the pin and pull on that. i think the thread pitch is 6x1.0mm but don't quote me on that.
release fork stays with the throwout bearing on the clutch when you separate the drivetrain....

thanks for the help. I'll check my 930 manuals again for this information. I'll get back to the project after my daughter's birthday party. Thanks again guys.
