Add a pair of twin plugged advantec 4 vavle heads!!!

speeed racr 04-10-2007 03:22 PM

It lives. I fired it up last night. I will try to post more pics and videos.

I don't think you could cool the heads with the 4 valve design. Wasn't that the short of these heads in their initial introduction and the reason Porsche went to water cooled heads. Heresy!

I don't think valve area/flow is going to be the limiting factor here......HEAT as Beep Beep pointed out will limit this engine. Though it should be a NICE limit.

We wait those charts.....please include AFR's and head temps on the graphs.

I think 921.32999 hp.

This must wait for a few weeks. My wife just kicked out a little boy. It does sound amazing though. The turbos at idle push lots of air.

Engine is in but the turbos are leaking  I am using a -4 and a restrictor for the feed line and a -6 for the return.

The engine reves up like a motorcycle engine.

Go Speed Racer, Go.

Congrats on the baby, all the best to you.

WydRyd 05-02-2007 02:35 PM

Awesome looking machine. Sorry to hear about the leaks. IMO, -4 is too big a feed. I'd use -3 personally and no restrictor, since these motors have a low oil pressure at idle. Anything under 2.0bar and you don't require a restrictor. That's how I run my single GT35R and I have no issues with oiling etc.

speeed racr 05-02-2007 04:48 PM

How do I post sound clips or videos here????????????????
I really sounds unique.

Here is a pic of my factory 1987 turbo look cab. Protomotive did the stage 3 set up with a t66 turbo. It hits very hard at full boost. I am going to go with a gt42r or a gt40r. They sound totally different

wrong car how do i remove this?

Slantnose in the background.

WydRyd 05-02-2007 05:05 PM

Very nice slantnose Cab ;) Yeh the Protomotive stuff rocks! Doesn't a T66 flow more than (or equal to) a GT40R? A GT42R would make a tonne of power, but might be a bit laggy on a 3.3L I would have thought?

The oil is leaking out of the air intake , up pipe compressor, and the hot housing on both turbos. There is a lot of oil collecting inside the turbo.  any ideas??????

Candelaria 05-05-2007 10:49 AM

The outlet lines needs to be bigger,eg./-8, I might be wrong, but it seems that the lines at the scavenge pump are hooked incorrectly, if this is not the case, you might try plumbing a scavenge line to the engine oil sump, or you can use a larger scavenge pump, PM me if you need one, I have a nice Petersen double stage pump, that will suck dry those turbos., Candy.

NathanUK 05-05-2007 04:28 PM

A lot of the single turbo guys like getting rid of the stock drain pump. They lose some weight by binning that pump and draining their turbo into the sump plate on early engines or the drain plug on later engines. Another option can be draining into the timing chain covers.

Not sure what you can do with no pump or pumps as you are tt though.

930gt-40r 05-05-2007 07:32 PM

Speedracer- did you put the little spring loaded check valve back in the top of your after market turbos? On the stock twins, they have a little spring and ball check valve on the inlet of the turbo. Is the oil entering the housings on shut down?

speeed racr 05-06-2007 12:50 AM

no check valve and the oil is entering the housing during shut down. I have a -4 with a restrictor If you look at the pic you can see that i have a oil reservoir drain under the turbo, then to the -6 return line. Also look at the pic of the oil return pump on the back of the engine i may try to clock it differently. What do you think?

NathanUK 05-06-2007 05:28 AM

I just looked at your pic. You went over the tranny with a drain. Can you try going under it instead ? Is it possible you have an air lock ?
