Question Weak BOV Spring = no boost ???

I have just replaced my GSF BOV with a Tial 50mm unit and now I don't have any boost

I haven't double checked to make sure I reconnected all the hoses 100% correctly, but I crossed my mind that since I specified a fairly weak spring (-9psi) for the BOV, could it be what causes the problem?

I thought if I keep my foot in, the BOV should NOT open even with a weak spring?

Any comments / suggestions?

Thanks!

I choose the same spring for my setup and it works perfect. Can you here it expelling? If not recheck your IC connections.

On throttle lift (from cruising to total lift), I can hear it vent faintly. So I assume its opening properly.

Could it be that it is opening too soon/too much while I try to build boost?

I'll definitely check the IC, & intake tract connections tonight but thought I'll jump the gun & ask for input about choosing wrong BOV spring tension...

As Ben suspected, I re-checked my IC connection and one of the hose slid off just a tad causing boost leak.

Didn't have a chance to really gun it but the one short chance I have, boost is shooting up to 0.6 bar already very quickly. Looks like I have solved the problem

I guess my 50mm Tial has the stock spring, whatever that is. When it was on the dyno, I noticed it opening when the throttle was closed even at very low loads. I never saw it open under boost.

David, when I still had boost leak, I could hear a nice "faint" whoosh as I lift throttle from cruise.

Now, there's a fairly loud rumbling when I lift - sound more like turbulence kinda rumbling. To be honest, not a very pleasant sound; though my old one did the same.

Do you guys have similar experience?

Mine made a slight woosh when lifting at low loads and the louder woosh when lifting at full boost. I don't recall a rumbling sound.

umm... maybe I should try to record the sound and upload it.
Mine does sound quite violent. The location is very similar to where the standard one is (between turbo & the intercooler input).
