Differences between 1979 US vs. Euro 930 motors - one last time

This RoW vs. US has been talked about a lot. And, it gets confusing (to me) when you look at all 930's at once (many changes between years, US vs. Euro, etc). But, I'd like to nail down 1979 (and by default, '78) once and for all...

I believe the only difference between the US and RoW cars in 1979 (and, the 265 vs. 300 HP ratings) was the exhaust/HE. I'm "sure" the long blocks (i.e. compression, intake size, cams, etc...) are the same. I'm "pretty sure" the distributor, fuel head/CIS, WUR, cam timing, etc are the same. Does everyone agree with this? Again, for this, only concerned with 1979 930's. Thanks, Skip

As far as I can tell from the specs I have seen in the shop manual the long blocks are the same.

The CIS, exhaust, and the ignition are not. The CIS, exhaust, and dizzy have several itterations; US48/CA/Japan/ROW/Europe. All of this is listed in the factory shop manuals. I can quote specifics if you like but cannot post the pages here.

I'd really like to know anything I can about the differences between US & RoW CIS and distributor for 1979. I might also see what my mechanics technical library has to say about the differences. I'm thinking it might be nice to have actual part numbers - in case I decide to try and convert mine totally to RoW specs. Thanks, Skip

For 1978/9 the CIS fuel head and injectors are the same. The part number for the Euro WUR ends in 112. Those are the major components, the rest being smog related additions.

The distributors had different timing curves with the Euro being more aggresive than the US. The timing was set differently as well. It would be easy to switch yours to Euro components. Strip off the smog crap, swap out the dizzy and WUR, and be done with it. If you make your WUR adjustable you don't need to swap it out.
