Center lock hubs?? PM or email me. I will put you intouch with the retailer. I am just the fellow who will be manufacturing them, as well as wheels (lot to chose from with custom ET's) and brake hats etc....

Marketed throught the shop that built what appears to be Pelicans favourite project car...

Cheers

Reaper930 11-20-2007 11:46 PM

Here's a small update on the body work - having to make brackets etc to fit the bumpers, and having a horrible nightmare trying to get everything bolted to the car. This is just the initial phase - there is MUCH bodywork left to be done - just thought ya'll would like to see how its coming together.

From a body guy's point of view, the pieces need fiberglass added in quite a few spots as the moulds are either short or something.

Had to throw away the DP style tail as it wouldn't fit the car at all!

The rocker panels are going to go on soon, along with drip rails getting shaved, and 935 mirrors going on the body.

But in short things aren't going too bad - if you can get past the mint green and small wheels you can see the true beast emerging. The 993 behind it gives a good guide as to just how wide this thing is. Its almost even on the passenger side and over a foot wider on the driver's side! Baby just redefined 'back'.

Enjoy - and feel free to comment.

I love street rods!! If you would post more images of this one somewhere on the board, a few people may genuinely appreciate it!!!:p

Reaper930 11-26-2007 06:24 AM

Brian, the tires coming with the rim halves are that wide if not wider :) but they're rain carved slicks. I'll post pics when they get to the shop in Van Nuys.

Rory Mckenna 11-26-2007 07:28 AM

NICE!!!!!!!!! That thing is going to look mean!

Reaper930 11-30-2007 08:18 PM

Meat

Brian, these are the meats going on the rear....oh yeah, the 935 rim halves and wheel fans that are on the way to the shop.

Hard Knock Life for sure....on a 935

I like what you are doing with the car but I don't think the AIR GTR wing looks right with that body. You said comments welcome !:) Of course if you like it that is all that matters I just think that wing belongs on a later body style l. Obviously I like the wing itself because I ran it on my GT1 R

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...R/442D1732.jpg

Reaper930 12-01-2007 12:21 AM

Van, I actually agree! The only problem is of all the barn finds I locate...I can't seem to dig up a 935 wing setup used before the Kremer style became prevalent. I love the design and the apprearance on other later models, but for now its my only option (to run a large wing blade as you did) for downforce.

I'm using this one until I can find an original or repro only. Plus being satin black I'm hoping that will hide most of its modern look. But yes, comments are welcome good/bad or ugly!

Rory Mckenna 12-01-2007 12:27 AM

Those gold wheel fans on a flat back mean azz 935 look machine are going to ROCK!

GJF 12-01-2007 09:34 AM

I still have the back-up bodywork from one of Paul Newmans 935's. It is the same front end as yours but the rear quarters are the first box style . I was going to put this body on my twin turbo 930S but decided to go for the street trim with modifications. During this I was informed A.I.R. still sells the wing and now GT Racing is offering the wing as well. I agree with VZ935 with the late style wing being on a early 935 body. Don't get me wrong awesome project and I love it, but the wing is still available.

VZ935 12-01-2007 12:02 PM

I believe GJF is correct . If what you really want is a 934 1/2 or 935 wing I believe AIR still makes them . You should give John at AIR a call. I do have an original 935 one but it is a complete set with factory bodywork so I would hate to split it up.

Reaper930 12-01-2007 06:16 PM

WOW, I scoured the GT Racing pdf several times, this must be a new addition.

The one AIR sells at closer inspection is one of their own design and execution. Not to mention if it fits like the rest of the body panels I'll be in for another nightmare.

I'm going to pick up the 935 wing from GT asap...this just made my Christmas bright!

Thanks guys!

21blackjack 12-01-2007 08:28 PM

Hey Reaper,

On your project, if your used factory rear hubs are in fact 935 the internal spline is a different size then what is used on a ( stock 930 ) won't work unless you have a custom flange made. You also might want to have your "alum" front hubs x-rayed or crack checked. That is why we have been making them for the last 15 years, many of the old used race pieces have been timed out and could cause you some problems. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. jim@torres.com

21blackjack 12-01-2007 08:52 PM

Reaper,

Something else, on your Factory used BBS 935 centers, the last used set I bought for my 935 after blasting them to have them crack checked 3 of the 4 were cracked and not ok to race on... Good show wheels. I just bought eight 935 BBS wheels hoping to get four that can be used. Jeff Alton will be making some nice centers.

Jim

Reaper930 12-01-2007 09:59 PM

Thanks for the heads up guys. The wheels I just got have been inspected and are good to go, they were back up wheels etc with only a couple sessions on them from a few years ago. This was a huge concern to me when purchasing the mag centers - so as long as I keep my eye on them and inspect regularly I'll be good.

Jim, sent you an email.

VZ935 12-01-2007 10:15 PM

Jim can also tell you that pretty much whatever bodywork , wing ets you get will
need to be fit. I used the GT stuff on a 73 RSR I did 10 year ago .. lots of work , Jim and I use a friends molds that are the factory ones for the Sachs K3 .. a budy just got the overlay and *****ed like crazy about the fit . He had to do a splice and some work to make it right but that is the way it is ... In contrast to GT , AIR is THE company that made the 935 stuff back in the day inculding the M16 body on one of my 935's that is also on Jim's 935 , The Miester 935 and the Hi-Tec/Pepe Romero 935 from back in the day . No mater who you get it from it is going to need to be messaged so my suggestion is get who ever has the wing you like the best

Reaper930 12-02-2007 03:26 AM

Van, that's why I went with AIR stuff, not to mention just about NO ONE makes the slant fenders from the factory style moulds etc. I'm thankful to John Brewer at AIR for the help and service for still making stuff that isn't the most popular look.

One thing is though, despite the b*tching and moaning the body guys did about the panels, they liked the rear quarters and said they fit like a dream. :)

Rory Mckenna 12-17-2007 06:53 PM

So what's new with this beast??

Reaper930 12-17-2007 07:47 PM

Brackets are being fabbed up for the front bumper for a more solid mount and the finish work before primer is being done. I'll have pics in a week or so :) Its the holidays so we're going slow as the guys at the shop are getting a ton of stuff done and this is not the #1 priority.

I've learned to never rush a body guy...

Porschekid962 12-17-2007 09:44 PM

AIR and a close source.

If you are truly interested in the AIR body pieces and want the real skinny on them give a call to a body guru, Kevin Mentzer at Automotive Innovations and Restoration. He used to work for them and a couple other heavy hitters back in the day. He did the paint on my father's car and it is damn beautiful. He can shed some light on things and also give you a real insight as to how "well" fiberglass parts match up.

KevinP73 on this board.

Reaper930 12-20-2007 05:34 PM

She's going into paint next week, and by the way - THESE are hips . I just can't wait to get the wheels under her.

Note: Gutters have been shaved and boy does it look great! Louvers will be cut before painting.

Rory Mckenna 12-20-2007 09:52 PM

Great pics.. is that a 350 Z nose on the laying on the front of your car?

Reaper930 12-20-2007 09:55 PM

Probably :) the shop is nothing but Porsches, but the body shop does a lot of custom stuff for all different makes.

Dutchie 12-21-2007 12:57 AM

Looking good Gabriel ! man that car is wide ! i,m sure i woulden,t even fit in my garage :D

Keep those updates coming.

Cheers,

Reaper930 12-21-2007 06:30 AM

Almost forgot, for the paint we're doing a regular PPG black base coat with a D2061 Flexed& Flat clear coat. Something like a 20% clear mix to give it just a touch of shine to yield a deeper black.

Thanks for the kind words guys :)

Rory Mckenna 01-02-2008 08:18 AM

There has to be some new pictures by now! hahah Please!

DPHANS 01-04-2008 04:02 AM

Do I have the same project?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1199451718.jpg

Reaper930 01-04-2008 04:11 AM

No, you have a DP prepped car with a higher belt line, rain gutters and smaller rear fender flares (the 935 early flares will fit 15" wide rear rubbers).

My body doesn't have rocker panels, front fenders like yours as mine is a slightly modified 1976 935 replica.

Looks like an interesting project though.

DPHANS 01-04-2008 10:26 AM

Yes;.You are correct. This is an original DP935 that went to be a winter project
_I found out that the original color have been Orange. And now it will be back to Orange. No more "Pimp red"
I also have an picture on my other DP 935 TT, the gear stick can be an ideé
to your fantastic project

That's a Kremer! I love those cars.
More info please.

AngM018 01-04-2008 12:36 PM

I almost pulled the trigger on this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AME WA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180200515791&rd=1
For a replica Kremer build up, but then realized it was more pain then it would be worth, and I dont have the room in my brownstone's tiny 2-car garage.

I have promised myself one of these cars one day, but will need to upgrade my living situation first. Keep the pics coming of the 935, Kremers, and DP cars!

onboost 01-04-2008 01:04 PM

John A: My thoughts exactly! Saw this one listed earlier in the week.... though the last thing I need right now is another project!

Jeff Alton 01-04-2008 03:38 PM

That car is local to me, and the owner has offered it to me. I am pretty sure I can get cheap, but I have no where to store it.....

Cheers

Reaper930 01-04-2008 05:54 PM

I'm jealous of your DP's! And yes I'm doing something similar with the shifter setup - but it will be more 935 inspired as finding those integrated consoles are near impossible to find (and adapt) to the Hargett Shifter.

Start a thread and show us the resto project!!! So many here will love to see it.
