Hi,
I just purchased a 1983 slant nose 911 that has been converted to a twin turbo. It has been bored to a 3.4ltr, mahl pistons, not sure what rods or cams they look like a form of SC cams. custom headers, twin k-26 turbos, twin plugged, and i just recently installed an electromotive XDI-2 system. I am new to tuning cars and have no experience, but I have started to play around with the timing chart and take the car for test drives. The car runs great under 3000rpm and seems to have a huge amount of power between 3500-4800rpm while it is building boost. However, once I get over 4800rpm the power seems to start to die down. I know that the redline of the car is 7000rpm. My mechanic assures me it is a timing issue, can anyone help me to figure out at what timing degree i need to be running at. I would say its almost at 1 bar of boost at 4800? or if i should advance or retard the timing when the boost kicks on. Thanks, Andy |

I would suggest getting the car to a professional tuner, Odds are it will end in tears otherwise. I would not suggest you start learning to tune on a P car, get a cheap Honda.
That way when you blow it up it won't hurt so much ![]() |

Totally agree with Jonty. Don't mess with timing unless you know what you're doing.
Adjusting timing on a 930 blindly is like giving a 25 year old girl a 930 to learn how to drive a stick shift. |

I Do have a map sensor with the program. I am just unsure what level that is suppose to be at, and I have only a slight idea about the timing. I went out and drove the car and changed the upper rpm and pressure timing by one degree at a time keeping all my timing under 30 degrees. My mechanic seemed to think this would fix the problem. While it might have smoothed out the transition between the "block" that i seem to hit at 4800 it just seems like the car still dies out above 5k rpm and it just doesnt have the acceleration that it does between 3500-4800rpm. If it is not a timing issue im not sure what it could be? Any help?
