What makes me laugh is how the original comment referring to China and their current treatment of their own citizens was labeled "racist" and offensive to persons of Chinese descent. Wouldn't an American of Chinese descent be the person who had the most problem with the Chinese government's treatment of their own people. I mean, it's not my friends and relatives being abused and, to use the liberal buzzword.....I'm "offended".
I am not thrilled with so much of my hard earned $$$ ending up in China because 2 out of every 3 items I buy are made their, so I certainly wouldn't cut out the middleman and plunk down 5 figures to go to the Olympics in Beijing. The Olympic committee should never have even considered the site, but hey it's not like they haven't goofed before. As a NYer where post 9/11, the, city was looking to land the 2112 Olympics for an economic boost, but couldn't get it together, a 2008 Beijing Olympics especially ticks me off. JMHO
