my 930 is total loss

quick spooling turbo at sunsetgoing around a blind up and down left curve with a deer caught in my headlights equals 2 360's thru a barbed wire fence sliding thru cow pasture equals a totalled 86 930. i have a brand new set of gsf headers with heat with gaskets braided stainless line and oil accumulater. i never got the chance to put them on. i also have a polished stainless muffler with single 3" out pipe on drivers side. this piece is used but is in near perfect condition. i was running brian's zork and 934 wastegate pipe. i may be able to get these pieces off the car... along with kokeln i/c and kokeln turbo...but im out of the 930 game . ive had 2 but i think its time for 993...i know i will have turbo withdrawls but its time for this 53 year old body to have a little smoother ride and a/c . shoot me a pm if your interested in alberts headers (beautiful pieces) at less than half the price of b and b and ghl..... kevin

Wow Kevin that's horrible!
Glad you were not hurt.
The car is totalled and the engine area is unhurt? A lot of body damage?

Kevin,
at the end of the day, it is just a car. I am glad that you are able to let us know that you are ok. There will be other Porsches.

Wow, that sucks. Hopefully your insurance comes through. Be glad you're ok, could have ended worse.

Chef- that really sucks- sorry that happened. If you're interested there's a nice, original-owner-owned 930 for sale here in Denver w/about 60k miles for sale (I think they are asking about $31k)- it's on Denver Craigslist. If you are truly out of the game for a while, and can get the zork off the car I'd be interested in it. PM me if you think that would be a possibility.

I would be interested in the zork tube if Jay71 passes.
Consider me second on the list.
At least you can recoupe some of your investment by parting it out.
PM me and I will get back to you.
Good luck, be thankful you were not hurt.

Where`s the car? get it home and strip it,take everything except the body and wheels, take the tail, interior and motor. The last one l totalled (73S coupe) l stripped completely with the tow truck driver parked in the yard waiting for me to finish up.l took the rare sport seats, gauges, steering wheel and knob, l took the spare & tool kit. l took the mechanical fuel injection and distributor/wires. l would have pulled the motor but the guy needed to get going with the car. The result? A check arrived in the mail a week later for double what l paid for the car, nothing was ever said about the parts. l`ve totalled 2 other cars(not my fault) and stripped them the same way, never a problem. lt`s up to you,you can always give the stuff back but if they`re special parts you have the right to pull them off...

thanks for all the responses...only a broken little finger and a destroyed ego(hopoefully i'll get a salvage title on the ego). it looks like all body damage. engine still sounds bad azz. ins comp offered 31,000, told them no chance , so an indie appraiser is re-evaluating today, so value can only go up ,no less than 31,000. the zork has a little curl at the very end of the tube ,934 w/g pipe looks good. body shop owner said i could take whatever i want from the car over the wknd, so i dug out stock muffler,i/c and k26 for swap...fortunately my wife had all receipts , invoices etc totalling about 9 grand which should help with the value. as soon as have parts in had i'll respond with all the goodies available... thanks again men , talk soon

Did you wreck by trying to avoid the deer or did the impact with the deer knock you off the road?

I'm kinda curious since it seems most times its the panic and trying to avoid an animal that causes the accident in cases like this.

I've seen enough stories like this to where as much as I love and try to dodge animals, when it comes to me maintaining the critical track and hitting an animal I will always maintain the track and do my best to adsorb the impact.

Not trying to nitpick your tragedy but its an important lesson too many people have had to learn the hard way.

Case in point, my brother totalled my first car with me in it by driving my car into a ditch while trying to dodge a freaking armadillo. Since then I've always wished he turned that pest into road kill instead, lol.
