Hopefully that roof area is compressed in the sand, and with the Viper's already low roof line, there is more of the original headroom than it appears??? Otherwise this looks BAD.

Dead Viper
We didn't get to run because there were 3, count 'em 3, dead Vipers that littered the course. Also one Pantera that burned up as well as 2 Corvettes that spread oil all over the road. State of Nevada shut down the event as I understand it. This (Pic) is as close as I got.

Wow that's a lot of "dead" cars especially Vipers. I hope the drivers are OK. Cannot picture how they can walk away from those wrecks.
What was your top speed goal Slick?

goal
My goal was 160MPH average for 95 miles with a high speed trap target of 180MPH.
Some unlimited cars have run over 200MPH average for the 95 miles with 220MPH trap speeds. EPS

UPDATE:
just talked to my account who was running in her vette. The Viper was sponsored by K&N. The motor blew and sprayed oil all over the road. The driver lost control, went off the road, flipped and the car caught fire. The car was equipped with a full cage and the driver was wearing a HANS device and escaped unscathed - albeit with a need for a change of underwear. He spoke at the banquet in Las Vegas later in the evening and apologized for holding up the event and preventing some from running. JP

You mean it's nonrefundable!?! Quick question. You said competitors run for 95 miles. Is that a misprint? Good to hear the Viper driver walked from it. Amazing.

What is it about Viper drivers?
I went to a NASA driver edd event once and a Viper tagged along. I was the only one I remember that had any damage to his car. Viper owners also have the lowest, or about the lowest, satisfaction with their cars per Consumers Reports. |

95 miles
Yes, 95 miles one way. Course is Nevada state highway 318. State of Nevada closes it for the day and trys to keep ranchers, and four legged critters off the road. Cars are sent off one at a time every 30 seconds or so. EPS

I used to follow the Silver State, very cool, would love to do it. Thirty minutes at wide open with sweepers and long straights would be intense to say the least.
Last time I checked (years ago) there was a supercharged Pantera that tore up the unlimited class for a number of years and a stock 993tt consistantly took the stock class.
