Euro fuel head + Leask WUR good for 400whp?
I am curious to know if a Euro fuel head combined with a B. Leask modified WUR and RPM switch will provide enough fuel for 400whp. Has anyone tried this combo on the dyno or with a wideband? The taget would be 400whp in the 11.5-12 A/F range. Lots of discussion but very few facts.

The stock Euro fuel head is good to about 375HP from what I have seen. You need mods go further and stay below 12.2:1 AFR on boost.
The downside to a modded fuel head (after establishing that you actually need one) is a slight reduction in fuel mileage. If you don't need one the draw backs are many ...

I assume you mean 375whp? I would like to be no higher than 12:1 @ WOT under full boost (K27HFS, 0.9Bar, big IC, headers, etc).

Yes, 375WHP.
There are a few companies that rebuild and modify fuel heads. The Euro head is different than the US and flows a bit more stock. Don't know what it costs, I do my own stuff. ![]()

Thank you. Who other than IA does the fuel head mods? Nothing against IA, just researching options.

The stock pumps will support more than the typically modded CIS. Generally the top for CIS is somewhere between 425 and 450WHP with conventional mods.

Stephen said that the modded USA heads will flow more than a modded euro head.
I bought a modded USA head and still have my euro head.

I have collected a number of extra parts over the last couple years for possible future needs...and I have several fuel heads...one is silver, and the other is black...like it's cast iron. Which is which? Is one the Euro and the other the US? Which one flows more fuel?

Here's the website to the guy who's been doing it a long time : http://www.specialtauto.com/index.html
He specializes in Deloreans, but I think they used the Bosch fuel system. In any event, this is where I had mine done long before IA started. My CIS Euro system provided enough fuel for 415rwhp, but you need a lot of other mods to reach those numbers on a CIS car. Brian is right about determining if you really need a mod fuel head. Check out your AFRs on a dyno before you spend big money on this mod. |

Chuck,
Mine has a black fuel head, and was determined to be a Euro model... but not all black fuel heads are Euro. I was told to do the magnet test. If it is not magnetic, I think it is Euro - is that right guys, or do I have it flipped? Can't remember. It was a while ago. Euro flows more fuel than US model. Rob |

Since I have both sitting in the garage I just went out there and did the magnetic test...the black one is ferrous....the silver one was not magnetic....so what does that mean...which is Euro and which is not? FWIW....I have the stock CIS system in my 87 and it has the silver fuel head on it. It's a factory slant but it has a US VIN so I am making the assumption that the silver fuel head is a US version and not the Euro.....right/wrong????
Actually, I was told sometime back that the silver was the Euro...can someone who knows the real story help out here? I think Kevin at IA would be the guy to ask.

AFAIK the black is euro and the silver is USA.
My euro 930 has a black one and the IA modded USA head I have is silver. The silver looks much better IMO.

Black = Euro
Silver = US Silver/US fuel heads were produced for the 3.3L 930 from 1986-1989, for the 3.3L 965 1990-1993. All 1978/9 3.3L fuel heads are Black/Euro for all 930s made those years, US included.

The stock fuel pumps will support more HP than conventional CIS mods of 425-450WHP.
In my dealings with modded CIS they have never had to updrade the pumps.

Did you verify on a dyno, reason I ask is that I have almost identical mods, except running 1.0 bar and I did not expect I made that much power. Would be nice to know. fredmeister
